National Poetry Month 2010

APRIL is almost here, and I'm really excited because, like last year, I will end up forcing myself to join the poem-a-day challenge. It's easier, I've figured out, when hundreds of people are doing it with you. :)

p.s. One of the coolest things about NPM is seeing the poster. I love this year's, but I think I like last year's a little bit better.

p.p.s. [ETA] I just took out comment moderation. It has worked for the past one-and-a-half weeks, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the spammers are OUT forever.

i'm doing a twist on NaPoWriMo I'm gonna take old "retired" poems and I'm going to try and polish them into something publishable :)

I think I'm going to do it this year. I've been working on making myself write each day, and I've been able to get at least every other day so far and I'm getting stricter. I think I can do it.

@Beth: thanks! :)

@Jessie: That's something I've tried so many times...and I've failed almost every time. Good luck :) Hope you come up with a solid stack of poems at the end.

@Faith: It's really fun, too. Everyone's doing it with you, so you can kind of feed off of everyone else for support. Closer to April 1st, I'll link to a couple of sites I know of that will be holding a prompt-a-day type of thing, if that helps. :)

The poster is very well designed and eye catching. I will have a go at writing a poem each day, but I think my efforts will leave a lot to be desired....

@The plantman: That always happens - it's really normal. I still think the discipline of the poem-a-day challenge is a good idea, though - even if you end up with quite a few poems that you would very much like to dump in the trash and never see again, you can always remodel and reshape them, and sometimes you get a good line or two that you can hook onto a brand-new poem.

Even if the April challenge leaves "much to be desired," you will end up getting at least a few good drafts/pieces out of it, and, having done it once before, I can safely say that the experience is well worth the effort.
