Today is my mother's birthday and I wrote this for her (in about five minutes :), it's true, because I just finished it, but I tried really hard to do it right). I love you, Mom! Thank you for all you do for me. (And I know these words will never be enough. I wish I had a better way to tell you how much you mean to me.) xoxo Maya
Five Minutes
She watches one red balloon
rise, climbing the sky.
From the ground
she can hear the thank-you
whispers as they fall into her hands,
echoing in her ears.
Gratitude.
Candy-sweet.
It's a rush of remembrances,
knowing that the equal sign has finally
been drawn.
It's the time the pink cotton candy
ran out in five minutes.

I especially love the last two lines; beautiful!
Strangely, my mother's birthday is on April the 21st as well!
What a coincidence!
Tell your mother happy birthday for me!

Love it!
