NaPoWriMo #22

Kites

I spent a life running, escaping,
trying to avoid the splashes of rain on my hair.

I'd sing the same song
over and over, trying to remember
what day it was, why I was here.

It didn't matter that two years ago
I was still running. Never
went anywhere at all.

I kept tripping and stumbling and falling.
Kept locking myself away.
I pulled the strings

and the world fell to the ground
and I
was still
running.
